For the FutureHelp us build on the past

The Flurry Festival and the DanceFlurry Organization can be part of your Legacy.

It has been such an honor to be able to facilitate the joy of bringing dance, music, culture, tradition, and community to two generations of participants.

When I founded the Hudson Mohawk Country Dancers in 1987 , my  first task was to make it a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt arts organization.  Now  called the DanceFlurry Organization (DFO), we have been  promoting and preserving traditional music and dance, and creating community through participatory events for almost 40 years.

I hope you will join me by Including the DFO in your estate plans to build a sound financial footing and ensure that our programs and work  endure.
Paul Rosenberg

Paul Rosenberg was starting to run contra dances in 1986. Soon afterwards, Patti Melita and Teresa Broadwell added a swing dance series. Hudson Mohawk Country Dancers  became Hudson Mohawk Traditional Dances, and then was renamed the DanceFlurry Organization (DFO).

A small group produced the first, one-day Dance Flurry Festival in 1988.  Who could have foreseen that 30 years later the event would have grown to attract a national audience and bring together almost 4500 dancers and musicians  pre-pandemic?

Today, in addition to the Festival, the DFO offers an expanded list of dance and music series all year in the Greater Capital Region and gives small grants to other organizations.

Thanks to  our dedicated volunteers, members, donors,  countless dancers, musicians, teachers, and performers, the DFO continues to connect and inspire through traditional music and dance.

Love what you all do!  We need more community fun and you all offer a meaningful way for folks to come together!

Our extraordinary community has seen us through the 2009 Festival cancelled by a power failure, and the Covid 19-related fiscal challenges of the 2023 Festival. Along with community support, the DanceFlurry secured a major grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, and has regained a solid financial foundation post-pandemic.  In order to build a more secure financial future, the DFO established an Endowment Fund. We want to make certain that the joy, sense of community, welcome environment for all levels of experience, and affordable admission fees remain the core of our programs.

How can you help? Planned gifts, such as a bequest, naming the DFO as an IRA beneficiary, donating securities, and employer matches are among the options that provide crucial support for our programs.  Other deferred giving options, such as a charitable gift annuity, can provide you with income during your lifetime and eventually benefit the DanceFlurry.

Gifts can be directed to the DanceFlurry Organization’s Endowment Fund. Endowment Fund gifts are invested, and a portion of the income is paid out each year to support DFO’s activities while the principal remains to provide long term organizational support.  Please contact us to set up a conversation about your plans by emailing us at endowments@danceflurry.org.
