International Folk Dancing includes the traditional dances of many countries and cultures done to authentic music in a variety of formations (long and short lines, circles, broken circles, and a few duos, trios, and individual). Our group is particularly fond of dances from the Balkan countries (Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania, Croatia and Serbia), Romania, Greece, Turkey, Armenia, Israel, Brittany, French Canada and other countries. We mostly dance to recorded music but have live music events a few times a year.We welcome all ages and genders, and no partner is necessary, as most dances do not involve couples.
We welcome beginners and children who are interested in dancing. We encourage those to come early in the evening when instruction is emphasized and tailored to newer dancers. Typically, the level of difficulty increases as the dance progresses, and we move on to dances requested by the group.
Comfortable clothing and clean, soft-soled shoes are recommended.
Parking is free, and we enter the building from the rear. We ask a donation of $8, as you are able.
