Dear Flurry Family,
Having come at it from every angle, through months of nonstop work and creative problem-solving around so many of this year’s obstacles, we have determined that we will not be able to move forward with a Flurry Festival in February of 2022. Between the strain on our medical systems caused by the current Delta wave and all the uncertainties surrounding the arrival of Omicron, we no longer have confidence that a February Flurry, despite all our precautions, could remain a low-risk event for both individuals and our greater communities.
We’re not quite ready to give up on the idea of a 2022 festival, though, and so we’ve started looking at options for holding an outdoor event sometime this spring. It’s too early to know whether this hope will become a reality, but we’ll keep you updated with our progress, and hope you’ll cheer us along as we seek to transport our mid-winter celebration to a more auspicious date and hospitable clime.
And we encourage those of you with hotel reservations to consider hanging on to them for a wintertime Saratoga getaway. The Hilton will honor our group rate for any reservations you’ve made through Flurry, and Discover Saratoga will be offering discounts around town that weekend for Flurry guests. Best of all, we’re planning to present some of our Flurry All-Stars for a special concert at Caffe Lena on Friday night! The Hilton will not be cancelling your existing reservations, so if you choose not to come to town please be sure to cancel them yourselves.
We want to express deep gratitude to those who have put so much effort into planning thus far, and for you who have continued to support us through your encouragement, memberships, and donations, and who have given us a reason to keep the Flurry torch lit. We can’t wait to dance with you again, and very much hope that it can happen soon! More news to come in days ahead…
