SUMMARY:North Berkshire Community Dance
DESCRIPTION:* At the summer location in North Adams * \n\n\n\nLiz Nelson will call. Music by mixer bands facilitated by Eric Buddington and Seamus Connor.  \n\n\n\nCalling workshop in afternoon (3-5 pm) preceding dance (7:30PM). Larks and robins role terms. \n\n\n\nThe dance will run in the Community Hall of the All Saints Episcopal Church\, 59 Summer St.\, North Adams. Admission is pay-as-you-can:  $5 – $15\, or barter equivalent\, suggested.  \n\n\n\nAs a community dance in a small college town\, we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds into the ever-changing tradition of New England contra dance.  Contra dancing is the contemporary face of a living tradition; some of the dances are hundreds of years old\, some are recently composed. Some of the dances are hundreds of years old\, some are recently composed; all are good fun and a pleasurable occasion for meeting and interacting with people both new and familiar. \n\n\n\nEveryone is welcome. New dancers and families with children are encouraged to arrive at 3:30 for an introductory lesson. SUMMARY:Albany Sacred Harp (Shape Note) Singing
DESCRIPTION:Sing four-part harmony with others and make a sound unlike anything else on earth..without auditions\, rehearsals\, or a commitment.  Just singing for joy!  All are welcome! We sing out of the Sacred Harp\, 1991 Edition. Loaner books are available. \n\n\n\nMost Saturdays*   1:00 to 3:30 pm \n\n\n\n“Haunting ancient harmonies…Gregorian chant meets bluegrass” —NY Times“the heavy metal music of the 19th century”   —J. Hauff \n\n\n\n\nWe are an informal\, friendly group of people from the greater Albany\, N.Y.\, area who sing Sacred Harp music together. Sacred Harp is traditional\, a cappella\, community harmony singing. All our events are free of charge and open to newcomers\, all ages\, all voices\, and all levels of musical (in)experience. Loaner books and explanations are available at the singings. The church’s address is 30 N Ferry St 12305\, but direct your GPS to 214 Green St for the parking lot. There is a door leading directly from the parking lot to the Great Hall\, on your right just before you go down the stairs to the church. (No stairs involved: wheelchair accessible!) \n\n\n\nParking lot off Green St. (GPS “214 Green St 12305”) – a door opens directly from the lot to the hall. Check online or FB for other special dates. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCOVID-19 Protocols: We sing together each Saturday\, in person and indoors\, mask optional. Please do not attend in the case of possible symptoms or exposure to COVID or other illness. Sacred Harp Singing is an Affiliate Event of the DanceFlurry Organization\, and its Covid safety policies are determined by the event organizers and the venue\, not the DFO. Please note that some special events have individual COVID protocols.
