No partner needed. \n\n\n\n* 8-10:30 pm – Dance! “The Lustre Kings will introduce you to doo-wop and wild rock’n’roll\, and then bring you back to rockabilly.” Their music is a travelogue of great American rock and roll\, with tunes from legends like Gene Vincent and Ronnie Self\, as well as from Commander Cody’s Billy C. SUMMARY:Albany Contra Dance
DESCRIPTION:The Capital District Megaband led by George Wilson with caller Julian Blechner \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAlbany Contradances are held every second and some fifth Fridays of the month\, September through June\, in the large ballroom of the Albany Elks Lodge\, located at 25 S Allen St\, Albany\, NY. \n\n\n\nDancing starts at 8pm\, with a beginner lesson at 7:45pm. Now is a great time to be a beginner! Please share this event with anybody who may be interested\, regardless of experience level! \n\n\n\nContra dancing has its roots in English country dancing\, and may feel familiar to square dancing.  Albany Contra uses the gender-free calling terms Larks and Robins. \n\n\n\nAs we’re living in a world with Covid-19: \n\n\n\n\nMasks are optional\n\n\n\nWe request that if you have symptoms or have recently been exposed to Covid\, please stay home.\n\n\n\n\nIn partnership with the DFO\, we would like to remind all attendees that consent is vital to a safe and inclusive dance experience. Be polite when asking for dances\, gracious if rejected\, and always ask before trying to dip\, lift\, or twirl your partner. If someone at the dance causes you to feel uncomfortable\, please speak with an organizer or Dance Ambassador\, who will be wearing a button. SUMMARY:North Berkshire Community Dance
DESCRIPTION:Special SUNDAY afternoon dance! \n\n\n\nCome join the Open Band \n\n\n\n* At the summer location in North Adams * \n\n\n\nHannah Johlas will call all dances\, starting the evening with easy dances friendly to newcomers and families with children. Hannah will teach new moves and skills as needed\, so that beginners can dance with everyone right from the start.   \n\n\n\nMusic will be provided by an open band\, led by Van Kaynor on fiddle and Becky Hollingsworth on keyboard.  “Open band” means that anyone with an acoustic instrument is welcome to join.  A list of likely tunes is available at https://northberkshiredance.org/tune-list/ \n\n\n\nThe dance will run 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Community Hall of the All Saints Episcopal Church\, 59 Summer St.\, North Adams. Admission is pay-as-you-can:  $5 – $15\, or barter equivalent\, suggested.  \n\n\n\nAs a community dance in a small college town\, we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds into the ever-changing tradition of New England contra dance.  Contra dancing is the contemporary face of a living tradition; some of the dances are hundreds of years old\, some are recently composed. Some of the dances are hundreds of years old\, some are recently composed; all are good fun and a pleasurable occasion for meeting and interacting with people both new and familiar. \n\n\n\nEveryone is welcome. New dancers and families with children are encouraged to arrive at 3:30 for an introductory lesson.
