No partner needed. \n\n\n\n* 8-10:30 pm – Dance to live band  \n\n\n\n\nCost: $20 General\, $15 Student\, 65+ Senior\, DFO Member \n\n\n\nAlbany Elks\, 25 S Allen St\, Albany\, NY 12208 (1 block south of Rt. 20 Madison/Western) \n\n\n\nBeginners: Take the 7pm East Coast Swing lesson and you’ll be dancing with nice people within the hour! No partner needed. \n\n\n\nSpacious\, attractive A/C hall (plus new large fans) with large wooden dance floor. \n\n\n\nSponsored by the Dance Flurry Organization (DFO): www.danceflurry.org \n\n\n\nProof of vaccine is no longer required. Stay home if you feel sick\, or were in close contact with someone who tested positive. Masks are not required\, but are welcome. \n\n\n\nVolunteers needed! Now is a great time to be a beginner! Please share this event with anybody who may be interested\, regardless of experience level! \n\n\n\nContra dancing has its roots in English country dancing\, and may feel familiar to square dancing.  Albany Contra uses the gender-free calling terms Larks and Robins. \n\n\n\nAs we’re living in a world with Covid-19: \n\n\n\n\nMasks are optional\n\n\n\nWe request that if you have symptoms or have recently been exposed to Covid\, please stay home.\n\n\n\n\nIn partnership with the DFO\, we would like to remind all attendees that consent is vital to a safe and inclusive dance experience. Be polite when asking for dances\, gracious if rejected\, and always ask before trying to dip\, lift\, or twirl your partner. If someone at the dance causes you to feel uncomfortable\, please speak with an organizer or Dance Ambassador\, who will be wearing a button. SUMMARY:North Berkshire Community Dance
DESCRIPTION:Music by Joy Factor with calling by Peter Stix \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNorth Berkshire Dances are held on the second Saturdays of the month from 7:30 to 10 PM in the community hall of the First Congregational Church\, 906 Main Street\, Williamstown\, MA. Dances include contras and squares all done to great live music.  The sessions are open to beginners\, families\, and life-long dancers!   All dances are taught and no partner is required. Come alone or bring a friend or two. \n\n\n\nAs a community dance in a small college town\, we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds into the ever-changing tradition of New England contra dance.  Contra dancing is the contemporary face of a living tradition; some of the dances are hundreds of years old\, some are recently composed. Some of the dances are hundreds of years old\, some are recently composed; all are good fun and a pleasurable occasion for meeting and interacting with people both new and familiar. \n\n\n\nEveryone is welcome. New dancers and families with children are encouraged to arrive at 7:30 for an introductory lesson. Come with or without a partner; most people change partners for each dance throughout the evening. \n\n\n\nThe dances run 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on the second Saturday (most months) in the Community Hall of the First Congregational Church\, 906 Main St.\, Williamstown.
