DESCRIPTION:Therefore\, no dance on Friday night\, June 12 \n\n\n\nScotia United Methodist Church\, 201 N Ten Broeck St\, Scotia\, NY 12302 \n\n\n\nInternational Folk Dancing includes the traditional dances of many countries and cultures done to authentic music in a variety of formations (long and short lines\, circles\, broken circles\, and a few duos\, trios\, and individual). Our group is particularly fond of dances from the Balkan countries (Bulgaria\, Macedonia\, Albania\, Croatia and Serbia)\, Romania\, Greece\, Turkey\, Armenia\, Israel\, Brittany\, French Canada and other countries. We mostly dance to recorded music but have live music events a few times a year.We welcome all ages and genders\, and no partner is necessary\, as most dances do not involve couples. \n\n\n\nWe welcome beginners and children who are interested in dancing. We encourage those to come early in the evening when instruction is emphasized and tailored to newer dancers. Typically\, the level of difficulty increases as the dance progresses\, and we move on to dances requested by the group. \n\n\n\nComfortable clothing and clean\, soft-soled shoes are recommended. \n\n\n\nParking is free\, and we enter the building from the rear. SUMMARY:North Berkshire Community Dance
DESCRIPTION:* Moving to North Adams for the summer!  * \n\n\n\nOpen band led by George Wilson and Becking Hollingsworth\, homegrown callers \n\n\n\nAdmission is pay-as-you-can:  $5 – $15\, or barter equivalent\, suggested.  \n\n\n\nAs a community dance in a small college town\, we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds into the ever-changing tradition of New England contra dance.  Contra dancing is the contemporary face of a living tradition; some of the dances are hundreds of years old\, some are recently composed. Some of the dances are hundreds of years old\, some are recently composed; all are good fun and a pleasurable occasion for meeting and interacting with people both new and familiar. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEveryone is welcome. New dancers and families with children are encouraged to arrive at 7:15 for an introductory lesson. SUMMARY:Albany Sacred Harp (Shape Note) Singing
DESCRIPTION:Sing four-part harmony with others and make a sound unlike anything else on earth..without auditions\, rehearsals\, or a commitment.  Just singing for joy!  All are welcome! We sing out of the Sacred Harp\, 1991 Edition. Loaner books are available. \n\n\n\nMost Saturdays*   1:00 to 3:30 pm \n\n\n\n“Haunting ancient harmonies…Gregorian chant meets bluegrass” —NY Times“the heavy metal music of the 19th century”   —J. Hauff \n\n\n\n\nWe are an informal\, friendly group of people from the greater Albany\, N.Y.\, area who sing Sacred Harp music together. Sacred Harp is traditional\, a cappella\, community harmony singing. All our events are free of charge and open to newcomers\, all ages\, all voices\, and all levels of musical (in)experience. Loaner books and explanations are available at the singings. (No stairs involved: wheelchair accessible!) \n\n\n\nParking lot off Green St. (GPS “214 Green St 12305”) – a door opens directly from the lot to the hall. Check online or FB for other special dates. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCOVID-19 Protocols: We sing together each Saturday\, in person and indoors\, mask optional. Please do not attend in the case of possible symptoms or exposure to COVID or other illness. Sacred Harp Singing is an Affiliate Event of the DanceFlurry Organization\, and its Covid safety policies are determined by the event organizers and the venue\, not the DFO. Hauff \n\n\n\n\nWe are an informal\, friendly group of people from the greater Albany\, N.Y.\, area who sing Sacred Harp music together. Sacred Harp is traditional\, a cappella\, community harmony singing. All our events are free of charge and open to newcomers\, all ages\, all voices\, and all levels of musical (in)experience. Our group is particularly fond of dances from the Balkan countries (Bulgaria\, Macedonia\, Albania\, Croatia and Serbia)\, Romania\, Greece\, Turkey\, Armenia\, Israel\, Brittany\, French Canada and other countries. We mostly dance to recorded music but have live music events a few times a year. \n\n\n\nWe welcome all ages and genders\, and no partner is necessary\, as most dances do not involve couples. We welcome beginners and children who are interested in dancing. We encourage those to come early in the evening when instruction is emphasized and tailored to newer dancers.
