Who : Orchestra Students in Grades 5-12 and college students: violin, viola, cello and bass
What : Traditional music workshop including Irish, French Canadian, Scottish, Old Timey, New England and other styles of fiddling/traditional music
When and Where : One Day Workshops
Saturday- January 26 th at Skidmore College, Saratoga
Saturday- February 9 th at Russell Sage College, Troy
Why : Traditional music makes your toes tap and puts a smile on your face! For our third year in a row, students can experience traditional fiddle music working with some of the best area musicians! This is a great enhancement to your child’s experience in their school orchestra program.

Fees : Workshop Participants:
Saratoga -
$20 before January 21st. After January 21 st/at door: $25 Skidmore Students $10
Capital District -
$20 before February 4 th. After February 4 th/at door: $25 Russell Sage Students $10
Performance :
2:00 PM- Open to the public: features all of the workshop participants & instructors. $3.00 per person, children 10 and under free; must be supervised by a parent.
We will send confirmation of registration, along with directions and any additional information and music home with your child through email, your school orchestra teacher, or it will be mailed to you.
We are looking forward to this opportunity for our students to work with some of the best local traditional musicians. We hope that you can join us for Flurry Youth Institute 2008!
Schedule:
9:00- Opening Assembly for all students; meet the instructors
9:45- Workshop 1
10:45- Workshop 2
11:45- Lunch- students are expected to bring a bagged lunch with them. Parents may join their children for lunch.
12:45- Workshop 3
1:45- Preparation for final performance
2:00- Final Performance for family, friends and open to the public.
